Dr Jones is a Consultant Forensic and General Psychiatrist. He has a private practice in Sydney, has extensive experience with the criminal justice system and has been the Visiting Medical Officer, Consultant Psychiatrist at Junee Correctional Centre since 2010. His work with Justice Health and in the NSW Prison System has included managing seriously mentally ill Forensic Patients and inmates at numerous Correctional Centres and, in particular, the Women’s Mental Health Screening Unit and Silverwater Women’s Correctional Centre.

Dr Jones has extensive experience in the clinical management of psychiatric patients across the spectrum of mental illness. In his role as Visiting Medical Officer at Junee Correctional Centre, he is responsible for the clinical management of mentally ill patients within the prison population.

Dr Jones has extensive experience in the preparation of psychiatric reports for Local Court, District Court, Supreme Court, and Tribunal matters. He is experienced in the presentation of verbal evidence in Court and Tribunal settings.

Dr Jones is accredited with the Personal Injury Commission (PIC) as an Assessor of Permanent Impairment and Independent Medical Examiner (IME) with WorkCover and the Motor Accidents Scheme, and works as a Medical Review Panel (Motor Accidents) Assessor for dispute resolution within the Personal Injury Commission.

Dr Jones completed a Bachelor of Science at The University of Sydney (1992). He completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at The University of Sydney (1996). Dr Jones commenced his psychiatric training with the South Sydney Illawarra Area Health Service before transferring to the Northern Sydney Central Coast Area Health Service. He completed his psychiatric training and Certificate of Advanced Training in Forensic Psychiatry at Justice Health (2008). He completed his Master in Forensic Mental Health through the University of New South Wales (2010).

Dr Jones is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (since 2008) as well as a Foundation Member of the Faculty of Forensic Psychiatry. His areas of expertise are motor accident injury, Workers Compensation, other civil, and criminal assessments.
