Dr Nair is a Consultant Psychiatrist. He is engaged in private psychiatric practice in Sydney. He is a credentialed psychiatrist with admitting rights at Wesley Private Hospital Kogarah. He is a Staff Specialist in the Drug & Alcohol Service of Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network.
Dr Nair is a WorkCover Independent Medical Examiner (IME) and a State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) Accredited Permanent Impairment Assessor. In addition to medicolegal work with a focus on personal injury matters, including but not limited to medical negligence claims, public liability matters and work-related injuries, Dr Nair maintains a busy clinical practice. His clinical roles include assessment and treatment of patients suffering drug and alcohol related diagnoses in the correctional system and the treatment of patients in the community and in hospital who suffer mental health issues.
Dr Nair completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Amrita School of Medicine, Kochi, Kerala, India. He completed psychiatry specialty training in New South Wales and hold a Certificate of Advanced Training in Addiction Psychiatry. His psychiatry training was undertaken at the Central Australian Mental Health Service at Alice Springs Hospital, Southern Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) Network and Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network. He undertook training in the Professorial Mood Disorder Unit at Prince of Wales Hospital and has extensive experience working in drug and alcohol services.
Dr Nair is a casual lecturer for the Brain Mind Psychiatry Program at Sydney University. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. Dr Nair is a Member of the Faculty of Addiction Psychiatry.
