Dr Tolulope Fajumi is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist with over a decade of specialized psychiatric practice including work in forensic and rehabilitation psychiatry. She brings extensive expertise in the assessment and treatment of complex mental health disorders. Her career has spanned international healthcare systems, including the UK and Australia.
Dr Fajumi undertakes forensic assessments at MedicoLegal Psychiatry in Sydney including but not limited to psychiatric assessments for criminal matters such as fitness to stand trial, court diversion and pre-sentencing. She is recognized for her comprehensive approach to risk assessment and management. She has been a member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal since 2019. Her role includes the provision of expert psychiatric opinions on complex cases, the evaluation of treatment plans and provision of recommendations for patients under the Mental Health Act. Dr Fajumi is a WorkCover Independent Medical Examiner (IME) and an Assessor of Permanent Impairment.
Dr Fajumi has contributed significantly to medical education programs and trainee development throughout her career. She is passionate about teaching and mentoring colleagues, trainee specialists and students. She is a treating psychiatrist at Villawood Detention Centre.
Dr Fajumi is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and holds specialist medical registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency. Dr Fajumi completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at King’s College, London, UK. She completed her post-graduate training in Psychiatry in Australia (Sydney) and Manchester UK, gaining Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists UK in 2008. She completed her advanced training in Forensic Psychiatry in the Northwest of England in 2014.
She is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychology, Psychiatry and the Law and formerly a board member of the RANZCP Forensic Faculty.
