Dr Glen Smith

Dr Smith is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist. He is a Visiting Medical Officer at the Wesley Hospital in Ashfield and serves as an Addiction Specialist on the Medical Council of NSW Case Management Committee. He is a Hearing Member for the Medical Council of NSW. He is an approved NSW Health Opioid Pharmacotherapy Prescriber.

Dr Smith was previously the Director of the Wesley Hospital Addiction Recovery Centre and a Visiting Medical Officer at Northside Clinic, Greenwich in their Drug and Alcohol Program. He also held the position of Visiting Medical Officer at Northside West Clinic, Wentworthville in their Drug and Alcohol Program. Additionally, he was a Council Appointed Practitioner with the Medical Council of NSW.

Dr Smith is an Authorised Health Practitioner with the State Insurance Regulation Authority (SIRA) and is a Medical Assessor with the Dispute Resolution Service in both motor accident and workers compensation matters for the Personal Injury Commission (PIC). He is an accredited WorkCover NSW Independent Medical Examiner and a Motor Accident Authority (MAA) Trained Assessor of Permanent Impairment. He has extensive experience in providing independent psychiatric assessments of personal injury for matters including medical negligence, historical sexual assault and public liability.

Dr Smith undertook a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Psychology at the University of Sydney in addition to obtaining the Dean’s Scholarship for Study of Medicine. He completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Sydney. He also completed a Postgraduate Course in Psychiatry at the NSW Institute of Psychiatry and a Graduate Certificate in Forensic Mental Health at the University of NSW.

He completed a Certificate of Advanced Training in Addiction Psychiatry with The Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and has been involved in numerous publications in both psychiatry and psychology journals in areas including homicide, suicide and substance use.

Dr Smith is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). He is a Member of the Faculty of Addiction Psychiatry with The Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and a Member of the Australian & New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and Law (ANZAPPL). Dr Smith is also a Member of the Australian Medical Association (AMA).
