Dr Samuel Lim is a consultant psychiatrist with a special interest in community psychiatry and psychotherapy. He is in private clinical practice and is an occupational psychiatrist. He was previously a staff specialist psychiatrist and site coordinator of training at the Prince of Wales Hospital and a locum staff specialist psychiatrist at the Royal North Shore Hospital.
He completed his undergraduate degrees in psychology at University College London (UK) and in medicine at King’s College London (UK). He then trained in psychiatry at The Maudsley Hospital in London. During this time, he also held an Academic Fellowship with the Centre for Neurodegenerative Disease and was involved in research in psychosis and dementia. Following his relocation to Australia, Dr Lim initially worked at the Royal North Shore Hospital where he developed the curriculum for the mental health component of the probationary constable orientation program. He has also worked at the Long Bay Forensic Hospital.
Dr Lim is experienced in medical negligence matters, damage and liability claims, fitness for work matters, total and permanent disability assessments, causation and workers compensation related matters. He has particular familiarity with first responders and transport workers. He has extensive experience working with employers and injury management advisors to support workers.
Dr Lim is an accredited assessor of permanent impairment and dispute resolution for the NSW Personal Injury Commission (PIC), for both the Motor Accidents Authority and Workers Compensation. He is also an accredited assessor for the WA Workers Compensation Commission. He is trained to conduct assessments for Worksafe (VIC) and TAC.
Dr Lim is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK). He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Psychiatrists with advanced standing in Psychotherapy. He has extensive experience in the management and treatment of mental health disorders in a variety of populations.
